Ellie was a dear high school friend, someone with whom I shared many a laugh. I will always miss her.

In-Memory Verse:  I wish I'd known Ellie longer, but having known her well, I have a lot of memories that I am here to tell.  Ellie was my first cousin, one of my 'baker's dozen.'  She was grand-daughter #four, followed by three girls more.  Here are things I remember:  1.  Lola Valley Park picnics in September--on Labor Day, with school two days away.  2. Holiday suppers with Ellie and her brother and their father and their mother and several others.  (Our grandparents were their upstairs neighbors until such a time as the steps become harder to climb. Then they made a switcheroo and the Golditches moved to floor two.)  I sat at the kids' table, I presume.  3.  The comic books she kept in the closet in her room.  I was a consumer thereof.  'Archie' was to like, if not to love.  4.  I knew a few of the kids on her block.  5.  Her parents had a digital clock.  It stood on a little stand.  It had no hand--or two or three.  But the time was easy to view and plain to see.  6.  Ellie played Mozart's Turkish March on the piano by ear.  7.  She designed dresses for my paper dolls to wear.

Ellie was one of my best friends. We traveled to Europe and she stood up at my wedding. I think of her often and visiting with her parents “upstairs” and just had wonderful happy times.

I will always remember her.
